Death of Art 5

I should really get a creative title for these.... Anywho

Dancing. We all know it, we all have done it, but have we really? What is dancing? People jumping up and down in time? An art form with moves that must be executed at a certain time? Just something you are born with, or a talent that must take practice? Or just two kids going at it like no tomorrow (if you know what I mean >.< )? Really, what IS dancing?

Now, as a sort of disclaimer, this is all just my opinion. I'm no expert, heck I HATE dancing in once sense, if it is that last one. I can't just "jump up and down in time" to save my life, and I'm certainly not born with it. But I can jive, I can swing, I can waltz like no other. You don't believe me? Just watch the Newport Beach temple dedication celebration thingy's video! I'm right there, doing swing for ya! And I LOVE it! As for waltz, I can do that too! I should have been born in the WWII era as far as dancing is concerned! I mean, that's my kinda dancing. I'm sorry, but two kids that look like they should be getting a room... that's not dancing. Ballet, Swing, Foxtrot, Cha cha, Jive, Waltz, Tango, Salsa... THAT'S dancing. Even hip-hop! I mean, DANG have you seen them go? Yeah, it's new, yeah it's not traditional, but neither is break dancing! But it's still dance, and MUCH more so then the crude dancing that seems to be invading dances everywhere! At least I can really dance, and that's what counts. I just don't!

Now Church dances... those are a whole different ball game. They are a mixture of school dances (in terms of clean dancing, jumping etc) and lip sync dances, which are kinda a mix of dance and cheer >.< they have the pre planned dance moves, but they aren't really dances. Take "Cotton Eyed Joe" for instance. That's a pre planned EFY dance (EFY = Church summer camp, it's pretty universal so if you learn it at one, it'll be at another.) And it's a good one! But it's more like a Girl's Camp Lip Sync dance then what you would see when "Sing Sing Sing" comes on. oh, the reaction to that song is BOMB! Everyone starts looking for a dancing partner, and soon everyone is swing dancing. It's one of the only songs I'll actually dance to!

Last but not least, dance for sport, or recreation? I prefer recreation, and when I'm alone or with the minimum amount of people. Some prefer sport. It's all preference. I really have not much to say here, because I'm laid back in terms of competing.

Nicole signing out for now. Ciao!
